Katnook Estate in the heart of Coonawarra was the perfect location for Georgie and James to marry. It’s heritage buildings, lush lawns, delicious vino and its proximity to Penola (where Georgie spent her childhood) made it ideal.
Georgie and James first met, and now live, in London and having friends and family from different sides of the globe meant picking a location to get hitched was not so straightforward. So rather than marrying in the UK, they came home to Australia for their wedding. Planning their wedding from London proved to be no hassle for these two who took it all in their stride. James’ best man along with his close friends and family flew in from UK. The wedding proved to be the perfect excuse for them to have a trip of a lifetime and holiday while they were down under.
The morning of the wedding the girls got ready in the beautiful setting of the Yalumba Menzies Retreat. Georgie’s bridesmaids chose their own dresses which complemented each other and the wedding palette perfectly. Family and friends then joined Georgie and James at Katnook Estate for their ceremony, which was conducted in front of a rustic timber arbor, adorned with native flowers. Following the ceremony, we moved onto the bridal portraits. Georgie’s only request was that we capture them at the Coonawarra railway siding, which made a wonderful setting for them.
After the bridal portraits, we returned to Katnook Estate for their reception. There was plenty of room for everyone to celebrate with the coupled under the stylishly decorated marquee. Sitting with guests to enjoy the wedding day meal was a lovely end to the day. As I sat with James’ family that night I felt incredibly welcome as a result of their warm and friendly banter. Also, the highlight of the reception? The homemade punch and home brewed beer!
